Ernie Green- Mercersburg

30 years ago a handful of African-American students attending the Mercersburg Academy founded the Black Student Union, led by Tonya Rutherford, SAHIR CHAMPION, Jamil Myrie, Bashiru Mohammed, Nikki Fajana, Tearl Bradley, John Henry, among others, to create spaces of comfort and for cultural exchange on issues of race and social justice. On the weekend of October 18, 2019, Mercersburg Academy celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the BSU with numerous on-campus events including an All-School meeting featuring a panel on diversity, equity and inclusion. John Henry of Chariot Companies and Grace3 Technologies participated on the panel alongside I Chariot Advisory Board Member and civil rights pioneer Ernest Green of the "Little Rock Nine". Mr. Green was the 1st African-American to graduate from an integrated high school in the US. Afterwards, current BSU students had lunch and more intimate conversation with Mr Green and the panel.
